using tea for smoothies chamomile

Stress is more than a problem for many, it’s an epidemic. While there are different ways to cope with stress, herbal-based liquids are an easy addition for those on the go.

The Problem: Stress is difficult to mange, even for those of us with the best handle on our lives in general. Breathing exercises, regular stretching, yoga, meditation and exercise are all helpful tools, but they can only take us so far.

The Solution: Herbal compounds, including chamomile tea, promote relaxation, help calm sore stomachs (a common side-effect of stress) and are known to be anti-inflammatory. Bananas contain tryptophan, an amino acid which converts to serotonin, an inhibiting brain neurotransmitter. Bananas are also high in the B-complex vitamins, which are known to have a calming effect on the nervous system. Nutmeg is rejuvenating, and is also known for its calming properties. Load up on all three in this smoothie to help unwind and relax.
