blueberry smoothie recipe

It’s easy to get bored with green smoothies making them day after day. We always have our eyes peeled for new ways to mix them up and make them interesting and seasonal. With the idea of holiday foods already in full swing, we couldn’t resist sharing this pie-inspired smoothie recipe from Krysten at The Daily Kale.

With protein, healthy fats and fiber from the almond butter and chia seeds, antioxidants from the berries and plenty of leafy greens, this smoothie packs a one-two punch – adding a great kick of nutrition to your morning and sending pie-cravings out the window!

The Blueberry Pie Smoothie

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 cup blueberries
1 tbsp fresh ground almond butter
2 big leaves of kale
1 banana
1 tbsp chia seeds
handful of spinach
pinch of cinnamon
almond milk/water to desired consistency

DIRECTIONS:

Blend all ingredients thoroughly til smooth and enjoy a sweet and spiced way to get your greens on!

  3. This was not good at all, and I drink a green smoothie every morning. I think adding some ice and reducing the chia would help, as would adding more blueberries. My smoothie turned out a yucky gelatinous charcoal gray…it’s the only time I haven’t liked a smoothie! I love the idea of this recipe, but it just didn’t work for me.

  4. This smoothie recipe is so good!! I think Jen’s problem was too much spinach and kale. If you get the portions right its fabulous and healthy!! Thanks for the awesome recipe!!!

  5. It doesn’t really matter, as long as it tastes good… but how are the nutrients from the kale absorbed if it is raw?
