Healthy In The Hamptons: Top Picks For A Svelte Summer With A Hamptons Pilates Pro

Amanda Freeman of Manhattan’s growingly popular SLT studios is taking the brand’s pilates-cardio fusion workout to the beach! SLT’s mix of pilates, cardio, strength-training and endurance is pushing the buttons of more than a few New York fitness fiends, so Amanda and team have decided to set up camp in the Hamptons this summer to help beach-goers keep up all the good work.  SLT joins other fitness brands we love like Barry’s Boot Camp, Core Dynamics and the one-and-only Tracy Anderson, who have all set up camp in the Water Mill area to keep the Hamptons healthy.

Amanda’s first spark for yoga was lit in a class at Maha Yoga in Brentwood – one of the best yoga studios around and neighbor to our very first Pressed Juicery location! Here is Amanda on the top spots to hit in the Hamptons this summer to keep life light and healthy til it’s time to head back to the city!

  • Light Bites

Perfect for a mellow, but delicious Friday or Sunday night dinner is Suki Zuki in Watermill. Known for unique menu items (for a Japanese restaurant) such as the Tuna Sandwich and Chicken Salad, when I want to eat light, I opt for their veggie-packed house salad (without crispies) with their amazing carrot ginger dressing on the side and an order of steamed soba noodles to mix in.

  • Easy Lunch

When out East, my go-to lunch is my own sandwich concoction at the Sag General Store in Sagaponack.  I add pickles, cucumber, tomato, onion and honey mustard to their fresh turkey on whole wheat bread sandwich.  It's an amazing combo and has to be ordered "off the menu".

  • Daily Sweat

Most mornings I can be found working up a sweat on a Megaformer at the new SLT Watermill studio.  I love that the workout combines cardio, strength training and pilates into one fun and effective workout. Routines are always different - keeping even me guessing!

  • Sweet Treat

For a refreshing, guilt-free sweet treat, I head over to Hampton Coffee for a cup of Chloe's Soft Serve Fruit Co. in flavors like Dark Chocolate, Banana and whatever seasonal fruit flavor is on the menu.  Tasty enough to eat plain and even better with a few of their healthy toppings (try pretzels and peanut butter)!

  • Fun in the sun

When I am not working out on a Megaformer, I love to be outside as much as possible. My happy place in the Hamptons is on a paddle board on Mecox Bay. So zen - and yet a great workout!
