haylie duff living well the chalkboard real girls kitchen

Sigh, Haylie Duff just gets us. Greens tossed with lemon – her healthy obsession? Yes, exactly, us too. Roast chicken on the regular? Co-founder Carly de Castro makes our favorite roast chicken of all time! And piloxing? Girl, all day. These little details and more are why Haylie is the “real girl” behind Real Girl’s Kitchen that we can’t get enough of.

Real Girl’s Kitchen, Haylie’s charming show on Cooking Channel, is her cookbook of the same name come to life. Haylie and friends make real food and visit our kind of trendy hotspots: sustainable goat farms and friends-in-wellness’ kitchens. We asked this burgeoning food star to let us into her medicine cabinet and kitchen pantry to take a look, and to fill us in on some of the simple ideals that keep her healthy, happy and fully in balance. Here’s Haylie…

My daily supplements:

CoQ10, B complex, magnesium at bed time, and when I am grumpy, 5-HTP.

Can’t live without my:

Dogs.

Daily breakfast:

An egg, over medium, on top of arugula.

My food philosophy in one sentence:

Everything in moderation.

Piloxing.

Once a week for my health I:

Meditate.

On tap: how do you drink your water?

Filtered, in a reusable bottle.

Best fast food option:

I try to avoid fast food. I love the to-go salads from Trader Joes… but if we are talking real fast food, I love In-N-Out.

Best healthy restaurant tip:

When I am really trying to eat healthy, I order simple dishes so I know exactly what I am eating.

At least once a week I cook…

A roasted chicken.

If I could give just one piece of health advice it would be...

My friend Ashley just gave me The Power so that will be my summer reading.

Crazy health idea that actually works:

5 things always in my medicine cabinet:

Argan oil milk, Lucas’ Papaw Ointment (lip balm), Ayur-Medic sunscreen, lots of essential oils.

Non-negotiable:

Sleep.

Simplest way to improve health:

Move more and don’t eat processed food.

Fave healthy getaway:

My health passion:

Greens and lemon.

Health trend to skip:

The Cookie Diet.

My go-to smoothie:

The green smoothie from my Real Girl’s Kitchen cookbook.
